SPAWC 2018 is the 19th in this series of workshops devoted to advances in signal processing for wireless communications, networking, and information theory. The workshop's Technical Program Committee comprises eminent scientists from around the world working at the intersection of communications, signal processing, and information theory. The technical program evolves around the emerging themes of
- machine learning and data analytics,
- physical-layer security and privacy,
- biological communications and signal processing, and
- 5G and beyond.
On each theme, there will be a plenary talk, a thematic oral session, and invited poster sessions. While the plenary will provide an overview of the theme, the thematic oral session, with three 20-min talks, and the invited poster session will go in more breadth and greater level of detail. The technical program will also include contributed poster sessions, a session on industry applications, and two complimentary tutorials.
The SPAWC 2018 technical program structure is new; previous SPAWC workshops did not have oral sessions or industrial applications sessions. The goal here is to expose the audience to the workshop themes at increasing levels of detail. Furthermore, the industrial program will highlight synergies between the workshop's thematic areas and the needs and upcoming opportunities in the industry.
